Gee, is there a line up there connecting the heading “OUTSIDE SUPPORT TO INSURGENT FACTIONS” to the pot of money that we the unconcerned taxpayers (now and far into the future) keep overfilling? Which pot is conveniently omitted from the layout of all the bits and pieces the brass and their civilian lap dogs are supposed to be keeping in mind as they shape the future with their force projections? Since it seems fairly well established that “we” apparently are so enamored of “being at war” that “we” are happy to pay, directly or indirectly, maybe 10% of every dollar that goes into the US undeclared-warpot, with a wink and a nudge, right straight to “The Enemy.” http://blogs.reuters.com/global/2009/08/13/who-is-funding-the-afghan-taliban-you-dont-want-to-know/

That’s right, folks, “we” pay Hajji wogs to be “contractors” to drive (and “protect”) the convoy trucks that roll through ambush setups and over the IEDs and EFPs, and they in turn (since many of them moonlight as “insurgents”) pay themselves and their goat-tossing buddies not to trigger the ambush or detonate those devices until GIs in a Hummer or MRAP or on foot roll over the explosives that “we” put into their hands through stupidity. Gee, I wonder where that investment of assets appears on the TO&E and procurement and logistics Powerpoints?

Pretty cool, huh? In addition to continuing to keep our hand on the front burner of the stove, we pay the gas bill to keep the burner nice and hot. You may say, “Well, that’s just the ‘fog of war.’” Uh, the Red-heads are now accusing Obama of giving aid and comfort to our enemies. Is this what they had in mind? A “policy” started way back in the Bush years (remember him?)? And the stupid fucking Narrative has 300 million Americans believing, without a glimmer of insight or tetch of apparent education or observation, in the face of the entire history of the Constitution and the notions that lay behind its creation, that We Are At War. Gee, did I miss a grand official declaration by the President and Congress?
And on the WTF front yet again, who and what is “PA Consulting Group,” and how much of that money pot was dumped into their bottomless pockets for producing this one among no doubt tens of thousands of Powerpoint pics? Gee, I wonder if “the Taliban” which we have granted existence and insurgent status (up there on the right, and why in Red? Shouldn’t that be offensive to The Base here at home?) sits around in their caves and cafes and living rooms, cogitating over similar “presentations” by Towelhead Associates? Or does their “flat and distributed management style,” another aspect of the enormous “asymmetry” at play here, seem to be a lot more efficient and suited to “winning” than this gigantic cluster fuck that apparently “sets policy” based on incomprehensibly dense and confabulusticating gobbledegook like the above? “Hey, Abdullah, let’s put a couple of those left-over Made In America 155 mm artillery shells out in front of Shari’s place, the infidel invaders have driven by there a lot in the last week. And Allah damn you, do NOT use my new iPhone in the trigger this time, you spawn of a goat!”

But in the name of our God, we are going to MAKE The Enemy Play Our Game. It’s Not Fair that Our Troops have to march around in readily identifiable Uniforms with 80 pounds or more of gear in 110 degree heat or drive around in readily identifiable sand-and-spinach vehicles, while The Enemy hides behind stone walls to shoot Our Boys and Girls or blow their asses into pain-wracked, forever-damaged carcasses, in comfortable loose clothing, and only has to carry his beard and his AKs or RPGs and cellphone and a bit of ammo and lots of ancient wisdom on how to do an ambush and disappear back into the terrain.

Hey, now that sounds like a Stan Freeburg take on how “we” the ragtag Colonists kicked the shit out of the Lobsterbacks and Hessians with their last-war tactics and elongated supply chains back there in the 1770s. No fucking fair! That’s standing in the way of Progress In Warfighting! That’s making a mockery of our really cool Networked Battlespace gear and our carefully managed Tactics! Stand and Fight, you camel-humping Hajjis! How are “we” going to achieve Vitory and Success if you don’t? You OWE it to us — we are PAYING you, after all. And while you’re at it, Hakim, fill up the tanks on my F-350, willya?

I like to think that slide was put together by a mid-level Pentagon staffer who would have resigned in protest if he didn’t have a marriage, 3 kids and a mortgage. So instead, he put his head down and “documented” the psycho-drama of American Empire in a memorable “canvas”.

    Guernica by Power-Point.

It was put together by consultants and is version three of a working draft. I guess they finalize the plan after the troops get there. Yippeecayayee MFs!

If you want to examine the full size chart to find out what the details and particularly the significant delays are according to these London-based consultants, it’s here:

    http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/images/afghanistan-1300.jpg

Fascinating. According to NBC’s Richard Engel, the counter insurgency goals are simple:

    a) “Influence insurgent-minded individuals to adopt a neutral disposition”;

    Translation: Kill the bad guys.

    b) “Influence neutral-minded individuals to adopt a supportive disposition;”

    Translation: Recruit the leftovers.

    c) “Retain supportive individuals.”

Translation: Keep the good guys alive.

Minds and hearts, my fellow Americans, minds and hearts.

If you look at the bottom right corner of that image you can totally see that this is a “working draft”.

Obviously once they release the final draft it will be much cleaner and actually make sense.

I do, however, think there’s a level of honesty in this graph. There is no end/exit point. It’s all feedback loops and circular logic.

At least we no longer need disagree on the facts of this war and of the decision making process. There’s your silver lining.

“put together by consultants” … “London-based PA Consulting, a firm with an office in Arlington, Virginia”

Even better. My imaginary Pentagon protest “artist” can be a guy who grew up wanting to join Monty Python. “Let’s hope this doesn’t get silly!

Perhaps the whole point is that the MIC needs eternal war and conflict to justify its existence, and hence they create conflict in order to engage in it. It’s just another sporting event to them…

    Per:
This Time, http://www.time.com/time/covers/0,16641,20091214,00.html, it’s now somehow Obama’s War, even though he’s just the latest bump on the bull’s backside, and why such a smart guy would, without significant duress being applied, want to ride any of the steers in this stampede, I for one would not know.

In a strange bit of irony, John Yossarian was killed Friday as he attended a local air show with his grandchildren. A propellor blade flew off the last remaining operational WW II B-25, owned and operated by the Republican Air Force, LLC, while the pilot was running up the engines prior to takeoff, and cut the aged survivor of air combat in WW II in half just below the belt.

In other news, General Graf Scheisskopf was just appointed head of the Joint Chiefs. Milo Minderbinder is alive and well and living in regal splendor in Palisades, CA. “It’s for the Syndicate, and everybody has a share.”

Which “people?” The goddam motherfarkin’ Scheisskopfs who sit around in meeting rooms and think that, by thinking about and making up stuff like this and doing Powerpoints and briefing books and white papers and strategic documents and findings and orders, they have a hold on anything other than their own dicks and an enormous shitload of the wealth that could better have fed and clothed and housed and educated and provided medical care for every single one of the people here at home and in Finalepukinoostistan?

Or <a href="http://www.randomhouse.com/catalog/display.pperl?isbn=9780385522267&view=excerpt"these people? The vast majority of whom, at least the fighting ones our generals and War Presidents are busily trying to turn into (drum rolll) “The Enemy,” from a collection of disaffected and disunited and warring pieces and bits, live under this ancient and oh-so-very-human “code,” Pashtunwali, which looks a lot like something that most Americans could embrace and are now pretty well armed to do so?

But as Hugo suggested, the Splurge will go on, because humans are too fucking stupid to do anything else. Follow the leader, and try to buy low and sell high, and the Devil take the hindmost, if you know what that phrase means…

Oh, and I see where “our boys” in the CIA-military-intelligence SMERSH appear to have been using, big time, the “services” of Blackwater=Xe and other mercenary groups to do stuff like “snatch-and-grab-and-murder” and other wise tactical moves that are really going to advance the ball in the great geopolitical game of bringing the fruits of American-style democracy to the unenlightened… Another “family value?”

    http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/11/us/politics/11blackwater.html

But they are “our guys” doing it to “their guys,” who just HAVE to be “terrorists” because “we” would never have kidnapped, tortured and killed them off otherwise, right? And I am sure that there are “findings” squirrelled away to justify all this, or at least dummied-up records, or some pretty competent efforts to destroy all traces, to cover the activities of people who are indistinguishable from those “we” call terrorists, in behaviors at least, except “we” put uniforms and combat gear on ‘em…

Fuck-ing-stu-pid-hu-man tricks… Why do I even care or think about any of this? It just goes on and on and on and on and on…
