Last week I wrote that Common Cause was doing really important work in Election Reform (among many other issues). I’ve never done this before , but I’m going to plug an ice cream. For the next month, if you buy Ben and Jerry’s Butter Pecan (wonderfully renamed Yes Pecan) ice cream they will donate to common cause a piece of the sale. Very indulgent way to do the right thing.
I find it hard to believe that you have never plugged, as you put it, ice cream before, Jon, but carry on.

Larry Lessig has just added an updated version of his take on election finance reform to his blog.
He makes the essential point that while it’s not the biggest problem we face, it’s the first problem we face, in that without Congressional reforms along the lines he suggests, our government’s ability to do anything at all is severely compromised.
In other words, no matter what you, personally, think of as ‘the nation’s biggest problem’ you should support this reform first and foremost, as it’s the one that all others are contingent upon.

Election Reform…I wish. Term limits got shot down as unconstitutional in the courts. I can’t give up Haagen Das for empty ice cream promises.
