Dumb As A Post

The police were a little suspicious from the start when McCain volunteer Ashley Todd told them she had been robbed and beaten by a 6’4″ black man who then saw a McCain sticker on her car and came back and carved a “B” for Barack on her face.

The “B” was backwards leading them to the conclusion that Ashley had applied it in the mirror.

None of this of course stopped the McCain-Palin campaign from pushing Ashley’s bogus tale to the press.

  1. themikeyreport says:

Sort of like the “death threat” story that the FBI couldn’t verify?

So where’s your posting on MSDNC jumping all over this and when the claim is unfounded:

  2. Jon Taplin says:

@themikeyreport-Don’t worry Mikey, our long eight year national nightmare is almost over. :)

  3. Rick Turner says:

Ashley is a sad case, and she probably needs counseling more than our anger. That does not excuse the excesses of the press and the right wing bloggers who loved this fantasy; they need a good thwap upside the head.

  4. VeryBadMan says:

    Nothing like that, Mikey.

  5. Dan says:

The McCain campaign has devolved into a horrifically-long episode of “Mr. Bill.”

  6. Dan says:

themikeyreport: The Obama campaign did not claim that there were “death threats” made against him. Nor did an Obama volunteeer engineer something phony.

There were reports made by people present at a McCain event that at least one person shouted, “Kill him!” in reference to Obama.

The fact that someone in the Secret Service said, “I didn’t hear anybody shout that,” does not prove that it was not shouted.

The Obama campaign decried this as unreasonable rhetoric and urged McCain to discourage that kind of thing. The Obama campaign did not claim that death threats were made.

The McCain volunteer did falsely claim that a large black man beat and cut her because she was a McCain supporter. And did it so poorly that she has guaranteed herself a spot on “World’s Dumbest Criminals.”

If an Obama supporter had gone to a McCain event, and deliberately shouted, “Kill him!” at the event, and then been caught doing it, then that episode would be comparable to this one.
