Memo To Bush:Shut T.. F… Up
As I have said before, every time Bush goes on TV to “calm the markets“, the markets tank further. This morning he spoke at 10 AM Eastern. He is a contrary indicator and should stay away from the TV cameras.
Occasional musings on the collision of Digital Culture and Politics

George, face it. At this point, you’re Jimmy Carter.

This morning, as in the recent past, he just read his lines with little interest, and even less understanding.

Oh, that’s what I’ve thought over the past week. At the risk of committing a post hoc, ergo propter hoc fallacy, there has indeed been a correlation. Bush or Paulson speaks to the nation, the market promptly vomits another 100-200 points within the following hour.
BTW, I have a new name link:

A few of the most recent crises in memory, and The Deciderererer has been at the helm. Understandably guiding our ship of State directly into the rocks.
Bravo. Good Sir. Bravo.
Though 9/11 was not directly our fault, the other crises have largely been of his making, oversight, negligence, ignorance, proximity, or some diabolical combination thereof.
What I want to know, what I think the really big question here is:
Is this the herald of the Interregnum? Has it begun? Will American’s shop their way out of this mess?
Hard to do that with no spare cash, and no spare credit.
But in all seriousness, is this the beginning of the Great Period of Change? The Flux of Our Collective Futures?
A (not only) Tipping Point, if not A Point of Coalescence?

Jon, you really should attribute your title for this post to me, as it is exactly what I’ve said every time he’s come on TV since he became Governor of Texas.
