McCain is spouting platitudes, Obama is talking about real solutions.
Why hasn’t Obama nailed McCain for all the ‘the system is broken stuff’ when two weeks ago, he was still in the dark?
They’re just talking past each other…

I can’t watch debates, so I’m relying on you guys to tell me how it went.
McCain doesn’t have a clue on health care. He has no idea what HMO’s even are.
39 minutes and he’s just said the word maverick for the first time. This is a new world record in restraint for him.
Has he said “my friends” a zillion times?
One of the problems with the healthcare debate is that it’s carried out by rich guys with fat Congressional benefits and pensions who can’t imagine what it means to worry about healthcare costs.
Thankfully no. McCain is actually doing very well. But it’s all very shallow. Jim is really having to work to get them to engage with each other.
I’m watching “Kelly’s Heroes” instead.
And I’m trying to figure out the metaphorical significance.
“Always with the negative waves, man.”
Exactly Dan. The thing is that neither is noting that it’s not government control vs. free market. It’s private vs. public bureaucracies. One has a profit motive to take your money, and cut you off when you make a claim. The other doesn’t.
McCain is so disrespectful. He categorically refuses to look at Obama even when Obama is directly speaking to him.
Obama watches and listens as McCain speaks.
And he bangs on interminably, and Obama should cut him off when he’s being mendacious.
Finally, the point from Obama about no preconditions was the kind of talk he needed to be delivering throughout.
Oh god he’s a lying shit. Now he’s trying to say we can ‘never’ allow torture and we’re going to do this by making sure we have ‘trained interrogators’. As if he’s never heard of John Yoo, and has never read the torture memos.
The fuck is still carrying water for, and protecting Bush. So much for ‘it’s not about who they are…’
Instead, he pulls a Rumsfeld, and throws the low level guys under the bus.
And Obama totally missed the chance to nail him for this.
Yay! McCain said “when I came home from prison” and didn’t clarify which prison that was.
As a youngun I haven’t listened to AM radio in… ever?
So this is what it means to be a fogey!
@Alex: I thought the same thing. Obama’s been lettin’ to many points slide… now’s the time to knock em right back. Play hardball, if you will.
