Barack just nailed McCain on the war.
He’s gonna have to do it again.
wow: McCain said ” iran has a lousy democracy so they have a lousy economy.”
can we replace Iran with US in that statement?
Obama wins on diplomacy. McCain doesn’t know the meaning of the word.
This actually seems to be a major sore point for McCain. He’s stuck on this idea of ‘legitimizing’ people by talking to them.
Hi, I’m John McCain. I’m smart, honest, and brave. Better believe it.
Just to confirm Barack’s comments about McCain’s BFF:
Yet another direct hit for Obama.
McCain is snorting derisively, rolling his eyes and interrupting repeatedly. That’s what looks “Presidential” to some in this country.
McCain is attacking and Obama is spending most of his time correcting McCain’s lies. Not good.
Obama could have had McCain on the floor if he’d gone after the torture issue. Epic fail.
And wrap it up with I WAS A P.O.W.!!!
McCain votes against funding care for vets when he shows up. He votes against benefits for soldiers. . . why no mention?
Lots of hair-splitting about ‘preconditions’ — McCain has painted himself into a corner with that word.
It sounded like Obama is on board with the, and I have to say it derisively, “missile shield.”
(Yes I watched a little bit of it.)
I thought Obama missed several opportunities to nail McCain, especially after McCain kept calling him “naive”. He should have hit back with “You say I’m naive, but you are simply out of touch with the realities of life that are experienced by so many.” On the war, O got stuck on defending comments on the Surge. Probably better if he’d said “Agreed the surge works for now, but it’s not sustainable. Also, it’s increased the recruiting for the terrorists. They say, “You want to strike at America? Come to Iraq. We have many Americans here. Also, we started this war on lies and deception. The problem is not our armed forces. They are doing a great job under difficult circumstances. The problem was your party’s president and the decision to go to war with no clear definition of victory.” Perhaps a little to deferential, but nothing lost. I’m looking forward to the VP debate, which should prove Palin’s undoing.
@zak: YES. I couldn’t help but laugh at the impeccable timing of that statement. Especially after the first half.
I feel both candidates would do well to study each other. McCain should look at Obama, and his ability to connect with Joe Everyday (at least when it comes to the economy), who barely “owns” one house. Obama should look at McCain and adopt his tenacity, and his ability to fight to win. Obama had he with the promise of a new type of politricks, one that was above the mud-slinging. But nobody lets a dirty dog in the house, no matter how well behaved. Stop wipin’ & start throwin!
zak, my guess is that Obama doesn’t want to tangle on that front because McCain can always play his “Got Out of Vietnam Jail Free” card. Every time he lands on Community Chest, he draws about 15 more of those things.
Obama only draws the “Collect $15 for second place in Muslim Jihad Beauty Contest” card and the “Pay $100 for Blueblood Elitist Banquet” card.
You know, I’d really like to take a peek at that deck of cards sometime. They seem fishy.
