The New York Times/CBS Poll says Obama is back up 48-43 over McCain. They tried to steal Barack’s change message, but the public is not buying (Obama wins the change debate 65-37). As I said, the short attention span public got sick of lyin’ Sarah Palin and John McCain’s ties to the “deregulate everything” crowd were just to close to disguise. As Barack told a crowd in Nevada today,
“Yesterday, John McCain actually said that if he’s president, he’ll take on the, quote, old boys’ network in Washington,” Obama said in Elko. “I am not making this up. This is someone who’s been in Congress for 26 years – who put seven of the most powerful Washington lobbyists in charge of his campaign – and now he’s the one who will take on the old boy network?” Obama continued. “The old boy network? In the McCain campaign, that’s called a staff meeting.”
The McCain campaign wanted to run this race on personalities–cute cutting ads, lipstick on a pig sideshows–anything to distract the voters from the economy. But Mr. Market just wouldn’t cooperate and now people are paying attention. We have little more than a week to the first debate. My guess is the stock market will stay in an extremely volatile churn. A week from Friday, the whole country will be paying attention.
