The morning after Sarah Palin was announced as VP nominee, Rick Davis, McCain’s campaign manager gave an interview to the Washington Post.
Rick Davis, campaign manager for John McCain’s presidential bid, insisted that the presidential race will be decided more over personalities than issues during an interview with Post editors this morning. “This election is not about issues,” said Davis. “This election is about a composite view of what people take away from these candidates.”
I thought about this after I watched Elia Kazan’s film , A Face In the Crowd last night. The whole conceit of the film is that the American public can easily be suckered by the kind of moose hunting “real folks” personna that Rick Davis found in Palin.
The only trick is to make sure the public doesn’t find out the manipulative liar underneath that “attractve personality”. That’s why they need to run this on personality not issues.
