A Proud Professor

I’m a proud Professor today. Yesterday, my student Rebecca Soni won the Gold Medal in the Women’s 200 Meter Breaststroke. Two days earlier she won the Silver in the 100 Meter Breaststroke. BTW-She’s a great well prepared student, who asks good questions in class.

Awesome!
Awesome!
Yay!!! Go ‘SC!!! Woohooo!!!

Hah … well, not to diminish your compliments of her or anything, but I was a whole lot more impressed by her freakinphenomenal performance against the best swimmers in the pool.
Then again, having taught student athletes, I found I didn’t give a rat’s ass how good they were on the court/field/etc. if they were lousy students or jerks.
So, good on her, twicewise.

Excellent.
When I was a teacher, my idea of a good question was, “In light of your rakish good looks, your insouciant devil-may-care attitude, and your runaway popularity with the student body, shouldn’t you be running this entire university?”
But considering that none of my students won any gold medals, I see now that my entire philosophy of instruction was flawed.

You have to be very proud! Great!
