Very telling, Kristol's comment about "nice cars". Maybe he hasn't been paying attention, which is understandable since mostly his head is inserted deeply into a smelly filthy orifice, but he needs to consider Obama's appeal to a great many well-educated and moneyed Americans.

It's Obama's post-political rap they're responding to. They're comfortable with style and consumption, and Obama fits that profile. His talk of "change" is just vague enough yet seemingly "progresssive" enough that they can dance to it. The very idea of class is sooooo passe to these people. Obama skirts this issue as smoothly as one of his celebrated three-point shots, and this is one reason why it may carry him right to 1600 Penn. Ave. While John Edwards, an old school class warrior, never got off the ground.

You just wanna stay away from the word "class". It'll sink you. It simply can't compete with one of our biggest myths- the meritocracy of America. There's the reason for those Obama bumper stickers on those nice cars. Their drivers are listening to Ludacris and The Arcade Fire. Bill Kristol must still be stuck on Bing Crosby.

I must admit to a certain loss of regard for the Times. It's poor sport to offer a seat to the ideological opposition, but only on the condition that it be filled by a certified moron.

Here's a guy who says it's important that we 'win our wars' without quilifying that position by noting that we pick the right wars and let competent people conduct them. He also rolls out the old war-horse of abortion as a marker of cultural decline, while ignoring the the fact that basic questions about the rule of law are being ignored by the AG (see the contempt of Congress charge against Miers, and watch closely the one just filed against Rove). And the bit about allowing American's to keep their hard earned income is a real howler when 43 is leaving 44 with a $490b deficit and a $1 trillion bill for INVADING THE WRONG COUNTRY.

What BK does reveal is that Conservativism has taken on all the trappings of theocratic religion; unacconutable to anything but itself, divorced from reason, and concerned, above all, with its own worldly power.

Also, if he thinks Congress had been 'dominated' by the Democrats, he obviously hasn't been paying attention. Pelosi, in particular, had given new meaning to the word 'craven'. The 9% approval rating reached by the 109th Congress is testament to their terrified stance in the face of an openly criminal administration.

The real shame is that the Times still lacks enough confidence to let Conservative opinion be represented by the kinds of people who are mortified by the GOP's corruption, instead of the witless morons who still think the party has a shred of integrity.

I read this thing too. WTF? When we were depressed about Bush's elections, at least we had concrete reasons we could point to. All he seems to be glum about is that his team is losing. That, and that he's no good at predicting anything.

Well said, this will be quite enjoyable to watch.

Of course, we'll need to diagnose what level of bi-polarity, as even Bubba C. show his own uncenteredness.

Guess, we'll have to wait for November and even beyond for final prescription.

I have quit the talk radio scene for about a month now and immersed myself in good books. But it always made my day brighter to here Rush or Hannity play cheerleader (we're going to win! We'll get them now!) until the very end. Just before commercial break, they would apparently think that the mic was off and mutter "we are so screwed."
