Adventures in Tornado Alley
April 1st, 2008 by Jon Taplin
There is a new book of Storm Chasers photos out that are so stunning I want to see if I can buy huge blow-ups of them. We can be but specks on this earth in the face of such power and beauty.

Your comment reminds me of one of my favorite poems by

The Universe
What
is it about,
the universe
the universe about us stretching out?
We within our brains
within it,
think
we must unspin the laws that spin it.
We think why
because we think
because.
Because we think
we think
the universe about us.
But does it think,
the universe?
Then what about … about us?
If not,
must there be cause in the universe?
Must it have laws?
And what if the universe is not about us?
Then what?
What is it about? And what about us?
rhb- Fabulous. Thanks
They are awesome spectacles of nature, truly something to behold. When you live here, they are also very intimidating, and in the dead of night, scary ….. Real scary. We don’t have “fraidy holes” because we look at them as a thing of beauty.
Nice blog, enjoyed the read.

Great photo, Jon.
Speaking of being specks in the universe, these totally rocked my world: http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2009/04/cassinis_continued_mission.html
