Manchurian Candidate
It turns out the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy really likes Hillary after all. Richard Mellon Scaife, who financed the early Anti-Clinton Investigations asked Hillary to lunch the other day. He was impressed.
Particularly regarding foreign policy, she identified what we consider to be the most important challenges and dangers that the next president must confront and resolve in order to guarantee our nation’s security. Those include an increasingly hostile Russia, an increasingly powerful China and increasing instability in Pakistan and South America.
In other words, Hillary is ready to return to a worldwide war against the godless powers of Russia, China and Venezuela, that Scaife has always desired. OMG.
Since Scaife was so impressed maybe he and his billionaire friends can bail out Hillary’s broke campaign before she stiffs too many more creditors..
That Clinton and her team have been unable to handle her campaign finances in a way that suggests long range planning and anything other than tunnel vision leaves me little confidence in her ability to handle (balancing) the federal budget.
I realize she expected to have the nomination in the bag by Super Tuesday, but as Eric Bogosian’s evil mastermind character in Under Siege 2: Dark Territory reminds us: Assumption is the mother of all f*ck ups.
Yes, I saw this discussed on Meet the Press this week — what was this meeting really all about? To mend fences? Become her enemy? I don’t get it … this is the same guy who suggested at every turn of the Clinton Administration that dark motives lurked, including the Vincent Foster suicide.
Seems to me Scaife’s comments say as much about the utter fecklessness of his political meddling as it does about HRC.
My best guess is that Scaife is a not terribly bright but very vain man, somebody with a whole lot of money and not much experience in anything other than throwing money around, someone who has always felt like an outsider, even in his own family, and what he wants more than anything else is to feel like he’s important. What could make him feel more important than to have one of his favorite targets come to him and say, “Let’s talk. Reconsider me. I’m a lot more like you than you realize.” Then she launches into her talking points.
And surprise, surprise, he finds himself impressed by what he hears.

I believe Hillary is at a point – has been for some time, actually – where she’ll do ANYTHING to get elected. And her husband, who I once upon a time had great respect for, is sounding more and more like some hick carnival barker trying in vain to get more people into the tent.
A sad commentary, I think, on desperate politicians.
