Will Rush Limbaugh Decide the Democratic Nomination?

Operation Chaos

This morning on his radio show, Rush Limbaugh crowed that Operation Chaos has induced over 100,000 Pennsylvania Conservatives to re-register as Democrats in order to vote for Hillary. Rush describes the objectives.

Operation Chaos mission objectives: Cross over to vote in Democrat primaries. Prolong the Democrat Uncivil War. Allow the Clintons to bloody up Obama politically, since our side won’t do it. Enjoy liberals tearing each other apart. Drain the DNC of campaign money. Annoy the Drive-By Media  and Win in November.

McCain supporter David Brooks sits in wonder at Mrs. Clinton’s willingness to “destroy the village in order to save it.”

For three more months, Clinton is likely to hurt Obama even more against McCain, without hurting him against herself. And all this is happening so she can preserve that 5 percent chance (of winning the nomination).

When you step back and think about it, she is amazing. She possesses the audacity of hopelessness.

Isn’t it time for the adults in the party to have a conversation with the Clintons? Vandehei and Allen wrote last week about the backlash from the Black community if the Clinton’s managed to override Obama’s popular vote and delegate lead. From conversations at dinner tables I’ve been at recently, the backlash would extend far beyond the Black community. Hollywood liberals who nine years ago were supporting Bill Clinton, are now disgusted with the both of them.

This republican switched to vote against Hillary…

They who live by the Clintons…

It is an interesting issue, who has to say what to Billary? Who/what do you think would make her stop?

Maybe Al Gore, John Edwards and Joe Biden have a come to Jesus meeting with her and Bill.

What if she says, “Al, you be president, and I’ll be the VP.”

My folks still live in Delaware County where I grew up. They’ve been registered Republicans since the 70s, although they voted against W in 00 and 04. The prospect of voting for Obama in the primary has induced both of them to switch their registration, so Rush’s numbers might be a little skewed. Not every GOP defection is an HRC gain.

Rush again? Yesterday’s has-been is today’s kingmaker? Mmm.

It’s amazing the depths to which Rush has sunk to attack Obama. He’s quoted Nietzsche- “hope is one of the greatest evils, it prolongs the suffering of man.” Surely this is some kind of nihilistic joke.

He once said “hope is an excuse to do nothing.”
For once in my life, I actually felt like calling him. I wanted to say “I had hoped to speak with you today, so naturally I didn’t call.”

Either McCain needs to condemn this nonsense or someone needs to dig up some real dirt on this junkie (you know it’s still out there.) This is the idea of a rich, spoiled child who’s favorite activity in life is winning. Or should I say whining?

I enjoyed reading “Enjoy watching liberals tear each other apart.” His afterthought was obvious: “Instead of watching Republicans tear each other apart as we’ve been doing for the last three years.” His craving for relief from that is about as palpable as his craving for oxycodone.

Incidentally, I don’t have a problem per se with what Rush is doing. I find him odious, to say the least, but in this case he’s not doing anything improper. In fact he’s only promoting voter activism. His message is, “Get out there and vote for the benefit of our side.”

The problem is with our bizarre and slanted election process, especially in the primaries, which could be summarized as, “The two dominant parties can make up any rules they want, and in fact override those rules and make up others as they go. One citizen, one vote? Please, don’t make us laugh. And those outside the two dominant parties are automatically insignificant fringe elements.”

The real potential for tearing ourselves to pieces lies in the possibility of, for example, Hillary funding a do-over in Michigan where she’s confident she can win and grab the delegates. Step 1 is to schedule your primary on a given date, step 2 is to change the date, step 3 is for the party to say “OK then your votes don’t count,” step 4 is talk of doing the vote over, step 5 is the candidate who is behind bankrolling the do-over and step 6 is the moment when enough people realize that the entire election process is a complete fraud that bad things begin to happen.

    Chaos, for real.

I always knew that the primary process in this country had an odd smell to it, but this election cycle in particular, thanks to a lot of excellent commentary on the web, has made me realize that it’s a shadow play and nothing more.

I can’t blame Rush for that.

We should scrap the primary nonsense and have a single day when all voters in all states vote in a directly representative way for a candidate in one party. (Republican, Democrat, or some other party if they choose.) Much like the actual election but without the electoral college nonsense. That cuts out all of the shadow play, not to mention the bloated spending/bribery by all of the candidates.

Even this would still effectively perpetuate our two-parties-and-two-parties-only system, but it would at least be a big step in the right direction.

I think it would be wise to give parties better self-regulation to control the planks of their candidates and allow everyone to vote for the best candidate within that party by their own tastes.

However, there is still too much room for those who wish to harm smaller parties by dictating a poor choice to them. Democracy is getting easier to implement, but questions of structure are too numerous to mention.
